Building plans are commonly called building control plans or technical drawings and serve the purpose of detailing the work. In effect the show all the details that enable the builder to carry out the work in accordance with the building regulations.
You don’t need these drawings until you have obtained planning or are ready to commence with the works. All technical drawings have to be agreed with building control prior to doing any work so it is essential that you get everything agreed before any building work is carried out.
Light, air flow, insulation, structural beams, drainage layouts, roofing details are just some of the elements that make up building plans.
