Loft conversion is another area where there has been huge growth over the past decade. Take any decent area in London for example and you will see that the majority of homes have had their lofts converted.

We speak to homeowners daily and one of the things we pick up on in relation to loft conversion is that homeowners don’t really know where to start. Some call an architect whilst others call a builder and only about half look for loft conversion Loft Conversion Guidespecialists. Many homeowners also seem to think that the loft conversions companies charge more than the builders and in an effort to save money they start out looking for the builder to give a quote for a basic conversion.

We get homeowner enquiries for loft conversions posted daily and when we call them back it surprising how little they know about loft conversions, especially when you consider how much information is available for them to do a bit of research before they attempt to get quotes.

We also get our fair share of time-wasting enquiries from people who don’t own the property, don’t have the money available for a conversion and are simply dreaming about doing a loft conversion at some point in the future. As far as I’m concerned these are the type of leads that nobody deserves so we do what we can to ensure that the homeowners do own the property and do have some idea about funding.

One question we ask homeowners, which is quite revealing, is about the likelihood of the project actually happening and we get surprisingly honest answers.

For example, some homeowners will tick the 10% box which clearly implies that it will be a miracle if the project ever goes ahead. My point here is that this is a question that the homeowner should be asked right at the start so that you can cut back on waste and use your time more effectively.

We also get a lot of complaints from homeowners that tradespeople don’t show up for their appointments and many don’t call. My point here is that if you can’t be professional even at the estimating and survey stage then you are sending out the wrong message if you are serious about converting more of your leads into paying customers.
